Purple Martins are the largest member of the swallow family in North America, and they rely almost totally on human-made housing. They breed in colonies here on the North Fork and migrate each year to Brazil. We are at the height of the Purple Martin nesting season, and can expect to see many young hatchlings in various stages of growth.
