  • NFAS is a local chapter of the National Audubon Society serving the North Fork of Long Island. We focus on bird conservation, habitat protection, environmental education, and connecting people with nature through programs, walks, and advocacy.

    They are licensed rehabilitators who can provide the care that wild animals need. NFAS is not equipped to care for injured wildlife directly.

  • No, NFAS does not have wildlife rehabilitation facilities. Please call the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center first to determine the best course of action.

  • Yes! We usually have at least three bird walks a month, Tuesdays with Tom, Friday Morning Birders and Beginner Birders. Check our events page to see the latest programs we offer.

  • Yes, the park is open from dawn to dusk. It's a great place for birding, hiking, and nature observation. Please stay on marked trails and respect wildlife.

  • Yes, but they must be leashed at all times and kept on the trails.

  • We have a Spring Native Plant Sale in May and a Fall Native Plant Sale in September at Inlet Pond County Park

  • In past decades, osprey populations on Long Island were in steep decline, but thanks to the exceptional conservation efforts of dedicated individuals, volunteers, and organizations, osprey populations on Long Island have increased steadily over the past few decades. Many birds are returning to natural nest sites.
