Learn about the effects artificial light has on birds as well as humans, and what can be done to preserve and promote dark skies through education, legislation and enforcement.

Susan Harder has been a Dark Sky advocate for over 20 years. She is trained in lighting design through the Illumination Engineering Society. Susan assisted in drafting Dark Sky legislation for many municipalities throughout the region, including Southold Town and Suffolk County. She is the NYS representative in the International Dark Sky Association.
